Waterside Series out-and-back: Newbury to Aldermaston and return, about 17.5 miles on the Kennet and Avon.
About
Waterside B is about 17.5 miles with around 19 portages. The course starts at Newbury, runs down the Kennet and Avon to Aldermaston, then turns and finishes back at Newbury (clubhouse finish on race day).
It is the only out-and-back race in the Waterside Series and the second Sunday of the pre-Easter build-up.
History
The Waterside Series is organised by Newbury Canoe Club and is England's largest annual marathon canoe and kayak series. Four Sunday time trials run in the eight weeks before Easter, getting longer each time, and are widely used as preparation for the Devizes to Westminster race.
